This place is... Wow. Honestly, it's probably one of the best breakfast spots I've stumbled upon in the last five years. The Bloody Mary here is out of this world - it comes with a Belgian waffle, fried chicken, bacon, olives, peppers, and citrus. Talk about a meal in a glass! I tried the eggs Benedict and the breakfast sandwich, and both were absolutely outstanding. There's a diner vibe to the place, but it's incredibly clean and welcoming. The service was quick and attentive, making the whole experience even better. The food quality is top-notch, everything fresh and served piping hot. I also got to try the chicken fried pork, which was a delight with its crispy batter and juicy meat. Despite our server being new and the wait time being a bit longer than usual, the great atmosphere made the wait barely noticeable. Plus, the food was definitely worth it. It's hands down the best breakfast place I've visited. Not to mention, they made Mickey Mouse pancakes for the little one, and he was absolutely thrilled. Will definitely be making a return visit!
Harlow's Cafe

Delicious food and great service are hard to come by, but that's exactly what I found at Harlow's Cafe in Tempe. Happening upon this local gem was a delightful surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed. It's definitely the best place for a brunch experience! The highlight for me has to be their hashbrowns - crispy, golden, and utterly delicious, making it hard to resist ordering seconds. This cozy spot is perfect for enjoying breakfast with friends or family, boasting a friendly atmosphere complemented by quick and attentive service. Each visit leaves me impressed, reaffirming Harlow's Cafe as an awesome place for a big breakfast, lunch, or some brunch drinks. Though it can get busy, which speaks volumes about its popularity, the service never falters in speed or quality. My most recent breakfast visit left me satisfied and full, a testament to their great breakfast selection and the welcoming, friendly staff. They offer a variety of beverages, including some alcoholic options for those inclined. While I haven't tried their bloody Mary's, they've certainly caught my eye and are on my list for next time. Opting for biscuits and gravy, I can attest to their quality – absolutely delicious. It's refreshing to find great food at a reasonable price, and Harlow's Cafe nails this balance. For anyone looking for a superb brunch spot in Tempe, this cafe is a must-try. Whether it's for the amazing hashbrowns, the big breakfast options, or the inviting atmosphere, you won't be disappointed.
Market Cafe
2000 W Westcourt Way, Tempe

Hector Kikani
Brunch at Market Cafe was an absolute delight, especially considering it was Thanksgiving day. The service was outstanding, with my server, Josie, making the morning experience even more enjoyable with her charming and efficient service. Additionally, Hiba’s attentiveness added to the excellent dining ambiance. The cafe's setting, with its stunning views and the calming sound of waterfalls within the restaurant, made for a truly memorable experience. During this visit, I encountered something special – Josie, in passing, noticed my way of adding sauce to my poached eggs and suggested a new method. Her suggestion was spot-on and changed my breakfast game forever. The beautiful views of the desert, combined with the unique interior featuring rocks and waterfalls, created an unforgettable atmosphere. The All American breakfast was prepared to perfection, and the quality of both the food and the coffee was remarkable. It's the memories and experiences that I value when dining out, particularly in the Tempe/Phoenix area, and Market Cafe delivered just that. With its great atmosphere, lovely music, and friendly staff, it’s a place I will fondly remember for a long time. Definitely a spot to revisit whenever looking for a memorable brunch experience.

Great food, even better service! While the parking is a bit limited at this location, it's definitely worth the visit. The staff always goes the extra mile, making every meal here a pleasant experience. This place is a gem in the heart of Tempe, conveniently close to ASU. We just walked over from our hotel and were thoroughly impressed. The food selection is fantastic, offering a wide variety and portions that leave you satisfied. The ambiance of the place really adds to the overall dining experience, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area. Just this morning, we had breakfast here, and it was exceptional. The flavors were spot on, and the service was top-notch. However, there was a slight hiccup when it came time to split the check three ways. Our bill came to $103.72, which divided by three was $34.57 each. The automated tip suggested 20% for each portion, which would have meant a $19.16 tip per person. This seemed off, so upon inquiring, we were told it was indeed for each individual split bill, which didn't quite add up. So, a word of caution when dealing with split checks here – always double-check the suggested tips to avoid any confusion. Despite this minor issue with the bill, the visit was enjoyable, and the food quality never disappoints. Be prepared for a bit of a wait if you're coming around brunch time on a Sunday, as we waited for about 20 minutes. Nonetheless, the wait is well worth it for the quality of food and service you receive. Highly recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area looking for a great meal.
Snooze, an A.M. Eatery
615 S College Ave Suite 103 & 104, Tempe
(480) 355-1934
Mario Limbachia
We decided to venture out and try something different for brunch, and Snooze, an A.M. Eatery in Tempe, did not disappoint! Upon our arrival, the place was bustling with energy. Despite the morning rush, adding our names to the waitlist turned out to be incredibly accurate, and we got seated in no time. Opting for outdoor seating made the experience even more enjoyable, as it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. The staff here deserves a shoutout. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. As someone who looks for vegan and gluten-free options, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the food. The gluten-free bread was a game-changer for me; it was soft and tasted just like regular bread. It’s worth mentioning that this place is dog-friendly, so it was a joy to see pets around, adding to the cheerful vibe. The highlight of our visit was definitely the Benedict selection. We tried three different versions, and each was more delicious than the last. The coffee was top-notch, our server was exceptionally friendly and casual, and the patio seating couldn't have been more comfortable. We also went for a team brunch, and even though it was a busy day, our wait time was much shorter than expected. The crab and asparagus omelet stood out, and although it initially didn't come with toast, our server quickly accommodated our request. It's clear the kitchen staff knows their stuff; everyone's plates were cleaned, and the food came out hot and quickly. A couple of tips for potential visitors: parking isn't validated, so plan accordingly. Also, adding your name to the waitlist through Google before arriving is a smart move, especially since this place is always busy. The menu is brimming with options, ensuring there's something for everyone. Plus, the drinks are just as delightful as the food. In conclusion, our experience at Snooze was nothing short of fantastic. It's become our new go-to spot for brunch, and we can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu. The combination of great food, friendly staff, and a comfortable atmosphere makes it a must-visit.
U.S. Egg Breakfast & Lunch Tempe
131 E Baseline Rd, Tempe

María Keever
Had a delightful breakfast experience at U.S. Egg Breakfast & Lunch in Tempe. The service stood out, with staff being attentive and friendly, quickly addressing an issue with an overcooked steak. Opted for the protein pancake, and it didn't disappoint - two large pancakes that were quite filling. Was impressed by the portion sizes across all meals. Despite visiting during a busy holiday weekend, didn't face any trouble with seating. It was a positive and satisfying start to the day. Tried the Half and Half, which included a half-order skillet and two small protein pancakes, and everything was delicious. My friend also enjoyed her full skillet. Our server, Shay, was attentive, helpful, and sweet, adding to the positive experience. This place is definitely worth visiting. Stopped by after the 9/11 Heroes Run, and it surpassed all expectations. It was busy, yet seating was quick. Our server, Kim, was fantastic, always smiling, swiftly took the order and kept the coffee coming. She made sure to check in several times, which was much appreciated. The food quality was top-notch, served hot and fast. Definitely, a place I'd return to thanks to the great food and service. Tried the mushroom swiss and patty melt, both were delicious, although found the fries a bit overcooked for my taste but still flavorful. One downside noted was the absence of a veterans discount on Veterans Day, despite the patriotic décor. Despite this, the overall experience was positive, making it a place I'd recommend to others.
Henhouse Cafe
9920 S Rural Rd Suite A105, Tempe
(480) 590-3423
Dickson Torres
My family and I decided to try Henhouse Cafe for breakfast and it turned out to be an absolutely delicious decision. The customer service was outstanding, making us feel welcomed from the moment we stepped in. They serve the biggest and best pancakes I've ever had – truly a must-try for anyone stopping by. We stumbled upon this gem while browsing through the same shopping plaza and I'm so glad we did. The food was exceptional. They offer all the breakfast staples you'd expect, but also some unique dishes that set them apart. The biscuits were a pleasant surprise - large, fluffy, and perfectly baked, not at all crumbly or dense like you might find elsewhere. I opted for the Grandpa’s Skillet, which was very flavorful and satisfying. We also went for brunch on a Sunday with friends. Despite it being extremely busy, the staff greeted us promptly and we were seated without much wait. Our server, Lori, was attentive and efficient, managing our drink orders seamlessly even as we waited for our friends. When it came time to order, the food arrived promptly. The Chicken Fried Steak with Chorizo gravy I ordered was a standout - delicious with incredibly flavorful potatoes that hinted at being cooked with bacon. My partner's Belgian Waffle was huge and hit the spot perfectly. Our friends were equally impressed with their choices, the Green Chile Skillet and French Toast made from sweet Hawaiian bread. The portions are generous, ensuring no one leaves hungry. Cleanliness was noticeable throughout the restaurant and the restrooms, creating a comfortable dining environment. It's worth mentioning they apply a 3% upcharge for credit card payments but offer excellent discounts, including a 10% service industry discount and a 15% military discount on Military Mondays. The food quality, from the omelette and burrito to the bacon, was top-notch and bursting with flavor, truly elevating the dining experience. The ultimate Bloody Mary was the perfect finish to an already fantastic meal. Based on the fresh, flavorful food and exceptional service, I highly recommend Henhouse Cafe. It's definitely earned a spot on our list of regular go-to places for a meal.
Biscuits
1815 E Elliot Rd, Tempe
(480) 520-8146
Apryl Dejan
I've been heading to Biscuits for brunch in Tempe since 2017, and it's always been a delightful experience. It's got this hometown diner vibe that really brings the comfort food game to breakfast. From omelets to French toast, breakfast skillet, and even a huge granola pancake, everything I've tried here hits the spot. The servings are generous, and the prices won't break the bank, making it one of my top spots for a morning meal. They've got several locations, which is handy, and yes, their biscuits and gravy are a must-try. They also serve some pretty good grits, adding to their appeal among locals. The breakfast menu is extensive, offering a variety of options that are sure to cater to different tastes, and I appreciate that you can opt for biscuits with country gravy instead of toast. Even during busy times, I've found that the wait for a table is usually short and absolutely worth it. On my visits, the service has consistently been prompt, with wait staff that's both friendly and helpful. It's not just about the excellent food; the atmosphere is welcoming too. When I swung by right after they opened one morning, the warm greeting I received and the overall friendly environment were as great a start to the day as the breakfast itself. The biscuits and gravy, especially with some freshly roasted jalapenos added, were fantastic. The portions are always satisfying, ensuring I leave full and happy. Luis, in particular, provided outstanding service during one of my visits, adding to the overall positive experience. The restaurant itself is always clean, and the servers are attentive and entertaining. While the food is consistently good – maybe not out-of-this-world but definitely enjoyable – it's the whole package that keeps me coming back. Definitely a place worth returning to.
Crackers and Co. Cafe
1285 W Elliot Rd, Tempe
(480) 705-7900
John Dang
First time having breakfast at Crackers and Co. Cafe, and I must say, the food was absolutely fantastic! The service matched the quality of the food - awesome through and through. There's no doubt I'll be making another trip here very soon. Every dish we ordered was delicious, but those lemon blueberry pancakes stood out as the highlight of the meal. Even though it was my second visit to this location and we missed out on their fresh cinnamon rolls, the experience did not disappoint. The server was attentive and on point. Opted for the biscuits and gravy meal while my sister went for the Denver omelette filled with a mix of green and red peppers, adding a nice touch of color and flavor. Decided to try the rooster sunrise but with pineapple juice instead of the usual orange, and it was a refreshing twist. My sister enjoyed a Mimosa flight, which included berry, two original, and strawberry mimosas - all of which added a fun variety to our brunch. On my first visit, I ordered the grilled bacon and egg sandwich, which was simply mouthwatering, especially with the spicy mayo that added just the right amount of kick. My husband chose the Reuben and the loaded potato soup, and he couldn't stop raving about how it was the best potato soup he's ever had. The service really stood out for its speed and welcoming vibe, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. Definitely going back next time I'm in Tempe!
Jim's Coney Island Cafe
1750 N Scottsdale Rd, Tempe

David Kochiyev
Stopped by Jim's Coney Island Cafe for brunch in Tempe and it didn't disappoint. The place has a very nice retro vibe that sets a pleasant tone right from the get-go. Our order included the special two coney dogs with a side, and the anticipation was building while we waited. The service here deserves a mention - attentive and swift, just what hungry customers appreciate. When the food arrived, the chili on the dogs lived up to expectations, rich and flavorful. What I particularly enjoyed was the grilled bread and the perfect snappiness of the dog, adding that much-needed texture. The French fries were another highlight - hot, fresh, and very satisfying. We also ventured into the breakfast offerings. The mushroom Swiss omelette was a hit on my end, while my fiance enjoyed the spinach bacon and feta omelette. Deciding to indulge a bit more, we split a side of biscuits and gravy, which turned out to be a fantastic choice. Based on the food and the service, this place is easily going to become one of our regular stops. Despite a minor glitch at the start where it seemed like we were overlooked for menus in favor of other diners, it's understandable given the challenges restaurants face, such as being understaffed. Having been in the food industry myself, I'm all for giving places another chance, especially when they show they're capable of delivering quality food and service, as Jim's Coney Island Cafe clearly did by the end of our visit. The breakfast outings have become a bit of a tradition for my daughter and me since discovering this spot. It's refreshing to find a place where the service and food consistently hit the mark, all at prices that give lower quality chain restaurants a run for their money. Jim's Coney Island Cafe is a true gem, making me wish we had found it sooner.
Daily Dose Rio Salado
96 S Rockford Dr #105, Tempe
(480) 590-6937
Rishu Torres
My husband and I decided to try out Daily Dose Rio Salado for breakfast today and we were more than pleased with our experience. We ordered the poblano eggs Benedict and the chorizo omelet alongside the DD hash. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, hitting all the right notes of flavor and freshness. The service stood out remarkably; it seemed like the staff genuinely cared, with multiple people checking on us throughout our meal, making the entire dining experience feel very attentive and personal. I'm always on the hunt for great breakfast spots since it's my favorite meal of the day, and Daily Dose Rio Salado has easily made it to the top of my list. I tried the eggs Benedict with chorizo, and I must say, it's the best twist on Benedict I've ever had. The potatoes served on the side were crispy and perfectly seasoned – I couldn't help but clean the plate. On top of the fantastic food, the drink options were a hit too. I opted for a Long Beach Iced Tea, which was superb, while my friend enjoyed an omelet paired with a cold brew martini, praising it highly. With the quality of the food and drinks, I'm already planning my next visit to try more of their offerings. Our server, Erika, added to the positive experience with her friendly and accommodating service, especially as we were dining with children. Although there was a minor discomfort caused by another staff member clearing the table prematurely, it didn't detract significantly from the overall excellent visit. The ambient atmosphere of the place, coupled with delicious food and welcoming staff, made our brunch at Daily Dose Rio Salado a memorable one. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his southwest flannel hash, and I was completely taken by the chocolate strawberry cakes. I'm already looking forward to indulging in the cinnamon roll cakes on our next visit. For anyone looking for a top-notch brunch experience in Tempe, Daily Dose Rio Salado comes highly recommended from us.
Terra Tempe Kitchen & Spirits
11 E 7th St, Tempe
(480) 968-8885
Jessie Virge
Every time I visit Terra Tempe Kitchen & Spirits for brunch, I'm reminded of why it's such a gem in Tempe. The chefs here truly know their craft. Whether it's breakfast or dinner, the dishes always taste incredibly fresh with perfectly balanced flavors, stunning presentation, and generous servings. I find myself almost forgetting to take pictures before diving into the meal because it's just that tempting. On my last visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Griffin, our bartender, who not only makes the best Cadillac Margaritas but also gave excellent food recommendations. The carne asada huarache and the short rib tacos were out of this world, and the fries were unlike any I've had before. His service truly enhanced the experience at the Westin. Despite it being my first time dining here on a Saturday evening, the experience was memorable. The menu took me by surprise with its unique offerings. Opting for the full experience, my party of three indulged in appetizers, salads, three entrees, a dessert, and multiple drinks. It was a treat, albeit not light on the wallet, but well worth it for the quality and service received. The server was attentive and his recommendations spot-on. My only observation was the ambiance, which felt more like a hotel restaurant due to its location off the lobby, but that didn't detract from the overall enjoyment. The food here is fantastic, from the juicy and sweet octopus appetizer to the crisply cooked sea bass and salmon. It's definitely one of the best dining experiences in town, marked by a lovely environment and top-notch service. Highly recommend a visit to anyone looking for a quality meal in Tempe.
Sunny's Diner
1825 E University Dr, Tempe
(480) 966-2761
Ronald Mabel
Looking for a spot to catch up over breakfast with family scattered between Glendale and Mesa, Sunny's Diner popped up as a promising choice, thanks to its rave reviews and mouth-watering pictures of French toast. Deciding to give it a try was a decision none of us regretted. Upon arrival, the service immediately stood out. Our server was not only friendly and quick but also highly attentive, a combo that’s hard to find. The menu offered a wide variety of choices, all at reasonable prices, which meant everyone found something they loved without breaking the bank. It was a relief to see our food arrive quickly, looking as appetizing as it tasted. The diner’s classic atmosphere was an instant hit, especially with the kids who were charmed by its retro vibe. This place truly felt like a step back in time but in the best possible way. An unexpected highlight of our visit was the kindness of another customer who found and returned my daughter's left-behind phone to the front desk. It's small acts like this that really warmed my heart and added to the positive experience. The staff, led by Joseph, was incredible from start to finish, ensuring our dining experience was nothing short of amazing. The diner's homey feel coupled with great food and service with a smile made for a perfect breakfast outing. And while the mimosas were a bit on the pricey side, they were a delightful treat. For anyone planning a visit, I’d suggest arriving early, especially on Sundays, to beat the post-church rush. It’s worth noting, though, that the diner isn’t the most service-dog friendly due to the closely packed tables. Our server, Alex, deserves a special shoutout for his excellent service, warm smile, and the never-ending supply of fresh, hot coffee. Even a minor hiccup like slightly overdone chorizo couldn't detract from the fantastic taste of our breakfast. The prices were fair, the atmosphere was casual and inviting, and while the parking lot is a bit small, it’s manageable. Thanks to Alex and the rest of the staff at Sunny's for such a great dining experience. It's definitely a place worth coming back to, offering a perfect blend of tasty food, great service, and a cozy diner vibe.
Daily Jam - Breakfast & Brunch Restaurant
310 S Mill Ave #A101, Tempe
(480) 968-9288
Gabriela Dupper
I had the pleasure of checking out Daily Jam for brunch in Tempe and it was a delightful experience. The menu is vast which is fantastic, though it did make deciding at the cashier a bit of a challenge. My daughter opted for the French toast, which was beautifully presented but unexpectedly made with cinnamon swirl bread, which wasn't to her liking. However, the pancakes were fluffy and enjoyable, and the standout dish for me was the breakfast burrito - simply delicious. The portions at Daily Jam are impressively large and offer great value for money. I was also pleasantly surprised by how quickly the food was brought out to us. The restaurant boasts a dedicated drink bar with a wide selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, making it a perfect spot for breakfast or brunch. The real gem of my visit was trying out some of their unique dishes. The red velvet chicken in a waffle was a taste sensation unlike anything I've had before, and it's something I would highly recommend. The chop salad, chicken pesto, and the sandwiches were all scrumptious and left me wanting to come back for more. Situated right at the corner of Mill St. and 3rd, Daily Jam presents itself as a must-visit breakfast spot in Phoenix, Arizona. The chipotle burrito was another win for me, with quick service and a cozy, find-your-own-seat setting. With so many more menu items left to try, I'm definitely planning a return visit the next time I'm in town. If you're looking for a great breakfast spot on Mill Ave, Daily Jam should be at the top of your list.
Scramble, a Breakfast & Lunch Joint
1120 E Baseline Rd Ste 101, Tempe
(480) 534-4044
Andrew Garcia
Waking up early has its rewards, especially when it leads to brunch at Scramble, a Breakfast & Lunch Joint in Tempe. It's not only the enticing menu that keeps me coming back but also the warmth and efficiency of the service here that makes every visit memorable. Among the plethora of dining options, the Santa Fe eggs Benedict stands out for its unique and delicious flavor. Sure, there might be a wait, but it's worth it every time. On a special occasion, the day after my birthday, my husband and I decided to try out Scramble, conveniently located near our house. Opting for something different, I went with the French Toast, intrigued by the use of a baguette instead of traditional bread. It exceeded my expectations, easily becoming the best French toast I've ever had. We paired our meals with peach, mango, & strawberry smoothies, which were equally delightful. Learning that Scramble operates as a “scratch kitchen” only added to the appeal. My experiences here have varied; the first visit was outstanding, while the second one had its ups and downs, likely due to a change in the kitchen staff. Nonetheless, the slight hiccup with an overly drenched eggs Benedict hasn't deterred me. During a trip to Phoenix, with a need for vegan options, I was pleasantly surprised by Scramble's selection. Both the vegan French toast and the veggie scramble were served promptly, fresh, and delicious, with generous portions that I highly recommend to fellow vegans. In summary, if you're in the Tempe area, near Rural and Baseline, Scramble is a must-visit spot for a delightful brunch experience. Whether you're vegan or just in search of some seriously good French toast, this place has got you covered. Thank you, Scramble, for the consistently great food and service!
Alter Ego
108 E University Dr, Tempe
(602) 612-7871
Josepha Flowers-Hardison
We had our first ever visit to Alter Ego in Tempe, and it was nothing short of delightful. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by Thailor, who not only took our order but also shared several of his personal recommendations. He really added to the overall experience with his friendliness and dedication to quality service. Our culinary journey began with the naked chicken wings, which were perfectly complemented by an Asian sauce with just the right amount of kick. Following this, we indulged in the pear salad, which was a hit for both of us due to its fresh and flavorful ingredients. For our main courses, we opted for the salmon and the crispy pork belly, each dish showcasing a fantastic blend of flavors and textures. The ambiance of the restaurant truly stood out, providing a comfortable, quiet, and intimate setting. This made it an ideal spot for celebrating special occasions, as we were in town for my daughter’s graduation. The service we received from our server Trinity was exceptional; she ensured that our dining experience was seamless, always checking in and serving with a friendly smile. The entire party appreciated the level of service she provided, making our celebration all the more memorable. Even though there were some areas for improvement, particularly with the speed of service from the kitchen and the originality of some dishes, the friendly staff and the comfortable environment did make up for these shortcomings to a great extent. The ambiance, coupled with the excellent service, made it a place worth visiting again. Having dinner here for my birthday was a wonderful choice. The setting, with its beautiful lights and nice music, alongside the great food, made for a memorable evening. Trinity, our waitress, took exceptional care of us throughout the night. Altogether, despite some drawbacks, the inviting atmosphere and stellar service make Alter Ego a highly recommendable destination for anyone looking to enjoy good food and a great time in Tempe. It's a little gem that we definitely plan to return to in the future.
Mission Grille
60 E 5th St, Tempe
(480) 317-1556
Bianka Holt
Let's just dive right in. Picture this: a bustling Sunday brunch, a large group of 10 people, hungry and slightly weary after competing in the rock ‘n’ roll half marathon. That was us, and we stumbled upon Mission Grille in Tempe, not realizing we were about to experience one of the most accommodating and delightful brunches. Our timing was admittedly off, as we showed up just 10 minutes before they were set to close. Despite this, the staff welcomed us with open arms after a brief, but honest chat. Two wonderful ladies, one hailing from Mississippi and the other from the uppers, didn't just serve us; they made us feel at home, ready to take on a full course breakfast. Our table was a unanimous chorus of satisfaction. The waffles? A solid 9.5 out of 10. But it was the custom-made omelets that stole the show, earning a perfect score from each of us. The service was impeccable, thanks to a gal whose name escapes me, but whose kindness and attentiveness didn't. Even with our large party and the late hour, we never felt rushed. It wasn’t just the food and service that impressed us. Mike and Ron, perhaps sensing our interest in the venue, gave us a short but fascinating talk on how the Hyatt is ranked number 18 in the world. After our experience, I’m inclined to bump that ranking up to 17. The attention to detail wasn’t just limited to our dining experience. I had brought my own Serrano pepper for a personal touch on the house burger, a quirky request that was met with a smile. The atmosphere was friendly, the staff was attentive, and even the vegan tostada to go was presented in such a strong container, ensuring nothing got shuffled around during transport. In conclusion, the Mission Grille in Tempe didn't just serve us a meal; they provided a memorable experience that perfectly capped off our marathon day. The food was superb, the atmosphere delightful, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. For anyone looking for a heartwarming, delicious brunch experience in Tempe, look no further.
Black Bear Diner
7700 S Priest Dr, Tempe
(480) 719-4520
Jamie Mac
Visited the Black Bear Diner in Tempe for brunch and it turned out to be a fantastic experience, particularly when it comes to the food. Admittedly, there were some hiccups with the service on our visits. On one occasion, seating us at a dirty table and a slow start with drink orders did dampen the mood initially. And it seemed like the staff could have done a better job in managing the space and attending to customers evenly, especially since the restaurant wasn’t crowded. Despite these service mishaps, the quality of the food is where Black Bear Diner really shines. My birthday celebration was made special with the delicious offerings on their menu. The biscuits and gravy might have been a bit bland for my taste, but everything else I tried was spot on. The French toast and omelets were favorites, earning high praises for their taste and presentation. Even when faced with a long wait time during another visit, the end reward of their tasty breakfast made up for the initial inconvenience. It’s the kind of place that keeps you coming back for the food alone. The cooks definitely know what they’re doing, and it’s evident in each dish served. On a note about the ambiance, while the interior is generally clean and inviting, the restrooms could benefit from a bit more attention to detail. However, these aspects don’t detract significantly from the overall dining experience. In another instance, despite arriving close to closing time, the server, although initially seeming a bit annoyed, made a commendable effort to ensure we were well taken care of. The drinks were kept full, and extra napkins were provided without having to ask, reflecting a level of service that was much appreciated. The chicken Cobb salad, bacon cheeseburger salad, and bear pancake for the kids were all delicious, particularly highlighting the house-made bacon ranch dressing. All things considered, Black Bear Diner in Tempe is a must-visit for anyone looking for quality brunch options. The commitment to delicious, hearty meals is evident, and it’s a place I'll definitely return to whenever I’m in the Phoenix area. Making sure to come well before closing next time, of course, to fully enjoy the warm and welcoming dining experience that Black Bear Diner aims to offer.

Came here with a large group and the servers were super helpful! The vibes in there were great and whoever picked the playlist that day deserves a raise. Nothing will top a heartfelt, tearful speech from my friend while “boots with the fur” blasts in the background. A great brunch spot. A must visit when you see one. Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed their meal, which tends to be rare when with a group over five people. Definitely planning to visit again and highly recommend you do the same! It was a fine experience overall. If you're really hungry, you might want to check out another spot though. Tried the classic Benedict - $16- noticed the prices were a bit up there, and the dish came with Canadian bacon. The eggs were a tad undercooked for my liking, and the Canadian bacon could have been thicker. The service stood out as the best part of the visit. It's just that if I'm dining out, I'd like to leave feeling full. The brunch place has a cute vibe and decor. The food was good, felt it was a little pricey, but we still had a good time!

My tradition is eating breakfast on Christmas Day at Denny's, and my latest visit was on December 25, 2023. Despite a hiccup with a burnt pancake sneakily hidden beneath a flawless one, the overall experience was satisfactory. My server, Jasmine, was extremely pleasant, which added a nice touch to the meal. She took away the burnt pancake without much fuss, although I had hoped she would notice it without my prompt. The pancakes I received after were delicious. However, I must point out that the bacon and sausage left a lot to be desired in terms of freshness. Sharing my concerns with the manager, I appreciated his understanding and his gesture of offering a partial credit for the inconvenience. It’s important for the kitchen to keep an eye on the expiration dates to ensure the freshness of the food. Upon entering, I was hit by an unpleasant sewer odor, quite a sharp welcome. Fortunately, my personal perfume came to the rescue, allowing me to enjoy my meal without further assault on my senses. Perhaps investing in an automatic air freshener could be a beneficial move for the establishment to address this issue. Despite these minor setbacks, the good service and familiar warmth keep me coming back. Gloria Ruiz, our usual server, never fails to greet us with ready coffee and that personal touch we’ve come to cherish. It's this consistent, attentive service that makes the brunch experience at Denny's in Tempe a tradition I intend to keep.
